Dietmar Schantin

Dietmar Schantin

Dr. Dietmar Schantin is the founder of the Institute and known in the media industry as the innovator of a series of modern editorial and newsroom concepts around the world.

During his time as Executive Director of WAN-IFRA Newsplex he worked with the Telegraph Media Group UK, Ringier Media Group, Associated News Media, Axel Springer Germany, and many others.

His specialist areas are content strategy development, digital business and product development, transformation management as well as technology strategy development.

He holds a Ph.D in Economics and Technology where his main focus was on business strategy development and business modelling.

Sarah Schantin-Williams

Sarah Schantin-Williams

As co-founder of the Institute for Media Strategies, Sarah Schantin-Williams MA is an expert in implementing difficult change processes in media organisations.

With a background in Anthropology and leading change in a variety of industries, Sarah works as a coach and consultant, supporting Publishers and Editors make strategic concepts a daily reality through planning, implementing and sustaining successful transformation.

Over recent years, in the local and national press and in broadcast, Sarah has worked on designing new products and services to increase brand engagement with target group focus and reorganizing for integration (cross platform and brand).

Working with day to day change management, Sarah focuses on workflow and structure redesign and implementation, internal communication strategies, and on coaching leaders in commercial and editorial operations.

With journalists Sarah trains in cross media story telling, audience focused planning and content development.

Pascal Zemp

Pascal Zemp, Associate Senior Consultant of the Institute, took over the responsibility for the newsroom transformation project of the Ringier “Blick-Gruppe” in 2007.

In 2010 the newsroom where the daily newspaper “Blick”, the Sunday newspaper “Sonntagsblick”, the free evening newspaper “Blick am Abend” and all digital channels are produced, was launched.

After that Pascal Zemp was project coordinator for the newsrooms of Blic, Belgrade, of Libertatea, Bucharest, of Novy Cas, Bratislava, of Blesk, Prague and of Fakt, Warsaw.

Pascal specialises in newsroom reorganisation. He has considerable experience in merging analogue and digital workflows in complex newsroom environments.

Being a journalist for the past two decades, working in several major dailies and weeklies in Switzerland, he has a passion in building up future proof workflow for the changing media industry.

Jamie Davies

Jamie Davies, Associate Editor at the Institute, draws on 40 years of involvement in journalism and as an editor to compile, among things, reports on topics of special interest to clientele and to provide summaries of presentations given at the Media Executive Forums.

With her strong background in foreign languages, Jamie has written, translated and edited for newspapers, magazines, newsletters and books including the European Stars & Stripes and Ifra’s newspaper techniques.

She brings with her many years of experience at Ifra as director of the IfraExpo and organiser of international events for the media to assist in the organisation of the 3rd Media Executive Forum in London in 2015.

Priska Koiner

Priska Koiner has been a Journalist and PR / communications consultant for 15 years. In Austria, Priska was Editor-in-Chief for the Austrian B-to-B industry magazine ‘Solid’, as well as part of the launch team for Wienweb, the first portal to cover local news about Vienna, the capital of Austria.

Priska’s passion lies with the development and implementation of new digital media concepts and platform specific journalistic roles and identities.

With the Institute for Media Strategies, Priske is a junior associate consultant and trainer working within German speaking media houses.

Hans-Peter Janisch

Hans Peter Janisch is a designer and a consultant for the newspaper industry since 1989 and a close partner in the network of the Institute. His work focuses on the redesign and launch of newspapers, magazines and corporate publications.

Over the years he worked with numerous clients in Germany, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kazakhstan and other countries. Next to the work of implementing creative design concepts he is passionately committed to imparting design concepts of visual journalism.

Hans Peter is a lecturer at the Society for News Design, the Center of Journalism Haus Busch, the Journalist Academy and WAN-IFRA. He served as International director for SND for over a decade.

Matthias Kretschmer

Matthias Kretschmer is the Institute’s expert for online controlling and news site reviews. Based on an intricate understanding of how a modern newsroom works and what constitutes a successful electronic news product, he analyses websites' content, user acquisition and traffic patterns as well as a sites' usability.
 
Matthias has an extensive background in online consulting projects for media companies. He has worked for dozens of clients including Axel Springer, Daily Telegraph and Die Zeit. Before working in the media industry Matthias was an international online project manager with clients such as Nokia, StoraEnso and Siemens.
 
Matthias is also the founder and CEO of Desk-Net GmbH which provides the editorial management software Desk-Net to many European media companies.
